About Me
With a growing buzz around the Bay Area and beyond, people have begun to ask, like a quote from the movie "Belly", Who The Hell Is Keyanna?? The answer is, not your average cookie-cutter female rapper. Born and raised in the rough East Palo Alto, CA, as well as EPA's next door neighbor Menlo Park, this 80's baby grew up in a foster home full of boys rappin' and dancin' to Kid N' Play, TLC, Queen Latifah and more. There wasn't a time Keyanna Bean could remember not knowing how to rap and falling in love with poetry in 3rd grade only added fire to the flame. An avid reader and speller in her early elementary years, it's easy to see how 'little Keyanna' grew into Keyanna Bean, the fiery lyricist with a knack for poetry. Having endured her share of hardships, from being removed from drug-addicted parents and placed into multiple foster homes to managing a heart condition, having several open-heart surgeries, Keyanna poured her life into countless notebooks, sometimes to a beat, sometimes with the pulsating of her heart as her only rhythm. Moving to nearby San Jose, CA, allowed Keyanna a fresh start, a time to slowly fill in that chip on her shoulder, meet her parents, and do something productive with her talent. San Jose helped Keyanna smooth out her rough edges and grow into a young woman, full of life experiences, on the road to carving out her place in this world and finding a sense of purpose. You first heard her on Traxamillion's Slapp Addict alongside Bay Area Mixtape King Balance with the playful hook of "We Like The Slapps." Her witty verse on Al Goode's "Dumb Girl" prompted Roc-A-Fella's Freeway to call Keyanna "The Bay Area's Best Kept Secret." And you DEFINITELY caught the bug when you sang the catchy anthem of Turf Talk's "Groupie Song" a hook Keyanna Bean lent her songwriting skills to and is also featured on, alongside Richmond songstress Dasha. The radio waves have been buzzing with the contagious hook:"Turrrf, U really got me goin, u got me soooo, I don't know what I'm doin, baby you GOOO, boy u so fly, I wantchou w/ me from the mornin noon & nite!" The "Salt N' Peppa-esque Traxamillion-produced song can be found on Turf Talk's West Coast Vaccine. Look for Keyanna spittin' raw 16's on several mixtapes around the Bay, including Black Muke's "PA Sports", Untouchable Entertainment's "The Empire Strikes First" and King George's "The Hyphy, Thizzin, Scrapin' Mixtape." Listen for her on DLabrie's "Pity Patt", an ass-shakin club banger produced by who again? Traxamillion, and found on DLabrie's Mr. N3twerk album. Look out for "My Swag", the smooth braggadocious Dev Mason-produced track with that good Hip-Hop twang and her demanding lyrics.
